32nd California Governor. He served as Governor of California from 1959 to 1967. The patriarch of one of California's most prominent political families, after serving as San Francisco's district attorney he was elected attorney general in 1950 and served two terms in that office. His son, Edmund G. "Jerry" Brown Jr. served terms as Governor of California from 1975 to 1983, and from 2011 to 2019.
