Mrs. Mary L. Heesch, 80, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday at her home, 224 East Sixth street, following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Heesch was born March 17 1864, in Carmichel [sic], Scotland, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander McBlain. She received her education in the Scotland schools, coming to America in 1881, directly to Grinnell, Ia., where she was engaged as a nurse. She was first married to George Lunn, who died some years ago and was then married to Herman Heesch in Grinnell. The couple moved to Davenport immediately after their marriage and made their home here since.
Mrs. Heesch was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Davenport chapter of O.E.S., No. 178, and Organizer of the Oriental White Shrine, of Davenport, of which she was known as mother, and the auxiliary of August Wentz post, G.A.R.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. W. E. Keebler, Seattle, Wash., two sons, Raymond W. Heesch, Council Bluffs, and Alva Heesch of Davenport; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Bass, Ute, Ia., and Mrs. George Moss, of Canada, one brother, the Rev. A. E. McBlain, Grinnell, and two grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held in the Hill & Fredericks mortuary at 10 a.m. Saturday, with burial in Grinnell.
