Karl John Condon, 89, Proctor, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1987, in Nopeming Nursing Home. He was born in Ireton, Iowa, and had been a resident of Proctor since 1926. He was employed 39 years as a carman for the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range Railway Co., retiring in 1965. He was a member of Forbes United Methodist Church, Brotherhood of Carmen 755 and Proctor Loyal Order of Moose 1302. He played professional baseball from 1919 to 1926, reaching the Class AAA level. He was one of the founders of the Proctor Little League and coached in it for many years. His wife, Margaret, died in 1968. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Lonke of Proctor and Laura Condon of Duluth; a son, Mark S. of Proctor; three sisters, Minnie Long of Timberlake, S.D. and Gertie Johnston and Bessie Grohsman, both of Proctor; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, where services will be at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery. (Duluth News Tribune, September 3, 1987)
