Jessie Rust Stumb was the daughter of Verda Lee Bandy and James Andrew Stumb.
Twin Sister, Mary Estelle Stumb Farrar.
A fourth generation Nashvillian, She leaves a loving family and lifelong friends behind.
She attended Peabody Demonstration School, Ward-Belmont, and Vanderbilt University. She was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church where she worked for seventeen years. She was a member of the Belmont Garden Club and the Junior League of Nashville.
She loved the Lord; she loved to dance and she loved ice cream. If you were lucky, you might have received one of her hand made Cards with a personal poem, but you could be certain of a kind word and a big smile. All who loved her are assured there was a big celebration in Heaven.
Jessie married William Hatch Wemyss, Jr. in the spring of 1951. To this union four children were born, Mary Ellen Wemyss Lovell, William Hatch Wemyss III, Jessie Wemyss Rucker, and Harriet Wemyss Kirk. Seven Grandchildren.
Jessie's second marriage was to John Robinson Burton III. step-children Mimi Burton Wheeler, Ramsey Burton Doran, Peter Stanton Burton, and Scottie Burton Klein. Eight Grandchildren. Four Great-Grandchildren.
She was lovingly referred to as Granny "J".
