William H Young was the oldest child of Simon and Betsy Myers Young. In about 1840 he married Mary Matilda Smith in New York and they had 5 children; Mary, Nancy, John, Angeline and Ammi. Mary died between 1854 - 1858 and on Nov 5, 1858 William married Amanda Austin in Ogle County Illinois. William and Amanda had 10 children; Alfonzo, William, Zilpha, Almira, Matilda, Brigham, Willard, Lucy, Martha and Olive.
Before 1868 William and Amanda moved to Homer, Webster County, Iowa and then later moved to Center Grove in Dickenson County.
William died between 01 Jun 1880 - 01 May 1883 from consumption.
