Sherry Hampton, 67, of Shelby County, passed away Nov. 29, 2017 in Shelbyville. She was born Nov. 17, 1950 in Rushville to Charles W. & Hortense M. (Taylor) Becraft. Sherry lived most of her life in Rushville and was a 1969 graduate of Rushville High School.
She worked at Detroit Steel in Shelbville for 25 years until they closed and retired in 2014 from Ryobi after several years.
Sherry is survived by a daughter, Tammy (George) Palmer of Shelbyville, a son, Tim (Amber) Hampton of Morristown, sisters, Linda Laytart of Findlay, OH and Charlene Shelby of Connersville, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and her beloved dachsund, Shadow.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Jr. and a sister, Patricia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2107 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Pastor Tom Sosby presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 4-8 p.m. on Friday evening, Dec. 1 at the mortuary. Cremation will follow services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Shelby County.
