Funeral services for Juanita M. Powell, 84, of Wichita, Kansas and formerly of Lisbon will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday (January 25, 2020) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith of officiating. Burial will be at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon following the service.

Calling hours will be held also on Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Powell passed away on Wednesday (Jan 15, 2020) in Wichita Kansas.

Surviving are her children John (Angela) Powell of Colorado Springs, CO, Wade (Susan) Powell of Cypress, TX and Dawn (Curtis) Tatum of Wichita, KS; a sister Delberta Carr of Lisbon; 9 grandchildren Curtis Tatum, Jennifer Powell, Geron Tatum, Jarryd (Nicole) Powell, Alison (Patrick) Knowlton, Casey Hare, Alexander Tatum, Kathyrn Powell & Anderson Tatum; great-grandchildren Alicia Tatum, Leilani Tatum, Tyler Tatum, Hudson Knowlton, Collins Knowlton and Wade Powell; along with several nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband John Powell; parents Wade & Ruby Moore; an infant brother Paul Moore and brother-in-law Bert Carr.

Juanita was born on November 11, 1935 in the town of DePeyster, a daughter of Wade & Ruby (Stevenson) Moore. She graduated from Heuvelton Central in 1953 and continued her education at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric School of Nursing where she received her registered nursing degree. On March 9, 1956 she then married John J. Powell in East Pitcairn, NY.

During her career she worked as a nurse for the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, St. Lawrence Seaway, Massena Memorial, Iroquois Dam and Orange Memorial Hospital in Orlando, FL. She retired in June of 1998.

She was a member of the Women’s Fellowship Community Congregational Church and the Bridge Club in Florida. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, baking, cooking & reading.
