Graveside services were held June 4, 1997 in Albany Cemetery.
She was born August 14, 1904, in Callahan County, Texas to Solomon W. and Emma Kate Suther. Kate completed her elementary and secondary education in Albany, graduating in 1924. She received her bachelor's degree from McMurry University in 1942 and her master's degree in 1950 from Hardin
Simmons University. She taught in the Albany public schools for more that 40 years. Following her retirement in 1970, she taught at Roberts Elementary School for two years in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
Miss Suther was a member of the First United Methodist Church; a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Albany chapter; a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Texas Retired Teachers Association.
