Reuben was married October 19, 1904 to Nellie May Dimmitt of Iowa. They were living in Murray, Iowa as newlyweds when he was accidently killed during a hunting accident while climbing a fence. He was working for the Railroad and had to travel to Iowa as the trains were moving west. He was returned to Vistula, Indiana, home of his parents, by train accompanied by his recent 18 year old Widow. He is buried next to his parents in the Vistula Church Cemetery.
