David Preston Jernigan was born January 8, 1943 to David Preston Jernigan, Sr. and Lula Mae (McFarland) Jernigan in Martha, Oklahoma and passed away early Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in his Bessie home.
David came to Clinton, Oklahoma with his mom and dad when he was one year old. He was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1961. He married Patsy Ann Allison December 9, 1963 in Clinton. They moved to Guymon, Oklahoma for a short time where he started trucking. They moved back to Western, Oklahoma and settled in Bessie; he worked as a mechanic for Cubby Williamson as well as hauling rock. He trucked as long as health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, his four year old son, Joe Jernigan, brother, James Sydney Jernigan and sister Nella Esbendo and his father and mother in law, Slim and May Allison.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, he read his Bible daily; he loved to play solitaire and he enjoyed messing with old cars, going to car shows and looking at car books.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy; daughter, Zina Jernigan, both of the home; brother, Johnny Jernigan and wife, Nora, Bessie, OK; sister in law, Mary Jernigan, Clinton.
He is also survived by a granddaughter, Jessica Patterson and husband, Tanner and grandson, Dustin Elliott; six great-grandchildren, Ryen, Jaxen, Mark, Brantley, Blake and Jaylyn and numerous ot
