She was born May 16, 1932, in Marion County, and was a Pendleton resident since 1954.
Katie retired from Western Electric Co. in Indianapolis in 1983 after 29 years of service.
She was a graduate of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis and was a member of Pendleton American Legion Post 117 Ladies Auxiliary as well as Pendleton AMVETS Post 26 Ladies Auxiliary. Katie enjoyed golfing and bowling and loved to read.
Survivors include her children, Desiree D. (Gary) Bolander of Pendleton and Kevin R. (Donna) Murphy of Rockford, Illinois; sister, Evelyn Coryell of Clermont; five grandchildren, Shawn David Murphy, Stacy L. (Jason) Bolander, Stephanie (Chad) Whistler, Johnny (Desiree') Murphy and Emily (Dominic) DeVito; two great-grandsons, Dylan Whistler and Conner Whistler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Murphy Jr.; parents, Harold David Kolp and Ruth (Haulk) Kolp; and brothers, Lowell Kolp and Kenneth Kolp.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton. Cremation will follow with burial in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton at a later date.
