Born November 17, 1945 in Metter, GA, he was the son of Lemerle Sheppard Wooten and the late Henry M. Wooten. Mr. Wooten, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was the owner and operator of Lena's Quick Stop and attended Nixville Baptist Church. He was married to the late Catherine "Kitty" Bowers Wooten.
Surviving besides his mother of Lena are two sons, Ron Wooten, Jr. and his fiance', Candice of Hampton and Charles M. Long, Sr. and his wife, Verna of Brunson; one daughter, Donah Wooten of Hampton; three brothers, John H. Wooten and wife, Reba of Nixville, Randy Wooten and wife, Cheryl of Grays, and Monte Wooten of Lena; one sister, Sally W. Moore and husband, Charles of Hampton; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
