Daughter of Solomon and Daisy Guinyard, both educators. She graduated from Barnwell High School and earned degrees from Tuskegee University (bachelor) and the University of Illinois Urbana (masters, education administration). She was inducted into several educational honor societies including the Alpha Phi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for women educators and was a Delta Sigma Theta sister. She taught high school in Pine Ridge, SD and Jacksonville, IL. She moved into administrative positions, serving as a principal in the Lovejoy School System in Brooklyn, IL, before her retirement. She met her husband Rufus in 1954 when her high school class went on a class trip to Tuskegee University. They dated throughout their time at the University and were married on December 23, 1957. They moved to Fort Belknap, MT following college and lived throughout the U.S. while Rufus worked for the Dept. of the Interior. She was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Solomon Guinyard III and Bernard Guinyard. Surviving are her husband, Rufus; children, Dawn L Williams, EdD (James VanOosting), Christopher A Williams, MD, Anita M Williams Galiano, and Bonnie E Williams; grandchildren, Alexandria Ford Williams (Evan Beckett), Christopher-Alan Ford Williams, Matthew Solomon Galiano Williams (Iela), and Alicia Grace Galiano Williams; and siblings, William Guinyard (Shirley), Myriette Ekechukwu, Wilma Johnson, Anita Lee, and Leon Guinyard.
