Stephen Lee Terry, age 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Veterans Medical Center, Seattle, Washington after a short illness. He was born August 23, 1947 to Willie L. and Mary L. (Key) Terry in Creston, Iowa. He grew up in Lenox, Iowa and was a graduate of Lenox High School. He attended Washburn University where he received his BA in Sociology. He proudly served as a corpsman in the US Navy during Viet Nam and was stationed with the Marines. Steve started his career with the VA Hospital, Des Moines, IA in 1971. He ended his career at the Oklahoma City VAMC as a Medical Administration Specialist, retiring in 2008. After retiring he worked part time for the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affair as a service officer. His passion was helping veterans receive benefits that were available to them. He was a member of Empowered Church in Mustang. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Bette Glennon. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Norma of the home in Mustang, one daughter Sara Gillum and husband Randy, granddaughters Shyanne, Breanna, and Samantha of Edmond, OK, one son Jason Terry and fiancΓ© Amy Moon of Everett, WA, and granddaughters Lana and Olivia and their mother Tracy Terry of Puyallup, WA, one brother Bill Terry of Naples, FL, two brothers-in-law Mike Johnston and Tom Glennon, also two nieces Cindy McLey and Marianne Mabusth. Services will be held at 10am on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Empowered Church in Mustang, Oklahoma. Interment with military honors will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma under the direction of McNeilβs Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahoma. Public visitation/viewing will be Sunday January 19, 2020 at McNeilβs Funeral Home, Mustang, OK from 1-8pm.
