Services for Alfreda Iola Foster Kapfer, 86, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Kapfer died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 3, 1917, in Smith Center, the daughter of LeRoy and Nellie (McNeil) Miller. She lived in Lawrence most of her life.

Mrs. Kapfer worked in food service at Kansas University until she retired in January 1978. She attended church services at Brandon Woods Retirement Community. She was a member of Busy Bee Club, Winters Club and Good Neighbor Samaritan Club.

She married John H. Foster on Dec. 30, 1934. He died Jan. 28, 1968. She married Charles Kapfer on Jan. 9, 1972, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Stauffer, Lawrence; a son, Ron Marvin Foster, Lawrence; two brothers, Cecil Miller, Lawrence; and Eldon Miller, Ozawkie; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Three sons, John R. "Sonny" Foster, David P. Foster and James LeRoy Foster, died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to American Heart Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
