Lida “Katherine” Boaz, 90, of Vandalia, IL passed away at 3:30 AM, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Fayette County Hospital.

A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Boaz Cemetery, Bluff City with Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Memorials may be made to Boaz Cemetery. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com

Mrs. Boaz was born on April 15, 1929 in Ramsey, IL, the daughter of William “Buck” and Mabel (Naab) Nichols. She married Emmett Wayne Boaz on August 30, 1945. Together, they raised three children and shared nearly 65 years of marriage; he preceded in death on April 19, 2010.

Katherine was employed by Brockway for 18 years and also experienced all of the responsibilities of a farmer’s wife. After retirement, Katherine enjoyed her job at Shell World, Key Largo; however, it was more of a hobby. She loved her time spent there and the many friends made over the years.

She was a member of Overcup Baptist Church, Bluff City.

She is survived by her son, Bruce Boaz Sr. and wife, Danielle of Brownstown; daughter, Gloria and husband, Bruce Hall of Vandalia; brother, Dwight Nichols and wife, Jackie of Aurora; grandchildren, Bruce Boaz Jr., Christina Kramer, Rhonda Foster, Michael Boaz, Lori Cannon, Kevin Hall, and Brandon Hall; 13 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Virgil Boaz.
