Mrs. Mary Moak Passes
This community lost one of its oldest, best-loved, most highly respected citizens in the passing of Mrs. Mary Price Moak, aged 87, who died after a long illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. C. Clark, last Friday morning.
A member of the Baptist church since early youth she remained a faithful attendant until her health was impaired by a fall at the home of her son, David, with whom she had made her home since the death of her husband a number of years ago. Since then she has been an invalid tenderly cared for by her devoted family, for the most of the time at the home where she died.
A true Christian, of quiet disposition, she exerted an influence over those with whom she came in contact for a higher standard of morals and Christian living. A visit in her home in the years gone by was a joy indeed and there was always room at her table for "one more." Truly, "all her paths were of peace," and a real Christian has gone to her reward.
The deceased is survived by all of her eight children save one, Mrs. Lily Greer, who passed away several years ago. Those surviving are Mrs. Amanda Alford and Ira Moak of McComb, Mrs. Jessie Roberts, Bogue Chitto, Sam D. Moak, Norfield, David Moak and Mrs. Grace Clark, Ruth; one half brother B. T. Price, Bogue Chitto, 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning from Ruth Baptist church with the pastor, Rev. Lemuel Smith in charge, assisted by Rev. Wyatt Hunter pastor of the First Baptist Church in McComb. Interment was made in the Moak cemetery near her old home.
