Kathleen Meyer,80, of Troy, MO, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 19, 1939 in St. Louis, MO to John and Marjorie (Hunt) Hough. “Tater” as she was known by her family, attended Xavier High School along with her three siblings: Patrick, Mary Ellen and Jack. She obtained her formal education at Fontbonne University. Kathleen was an English teacher in Hazelwood, Mo for two years. While she was in college, she met a young man at a college dance. This young man was Stephen Meyer.
The two lovebirds were married on June 9,1962 at St. Sabina Catholic Church in Florissant. To this union were born three children: Toni, Stephen and Jeanie. In 1971, the Meyer family moved to Troy, MO. Kathy (as she was known by friends in Troy), helped Steve to open their business, Steve Meyer Law and Meyer Title.
She was very musical and loved to play the piano. Kathleen was an excellent hostess when her friends came by for bridge. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Martha Dyer Club and State of MO Finance Board. Kathleen was a 4-H leader and started the Trailblazers Horsemanship Club. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and visited Ireland many times with her husband. Kathleen and Steve loved to travel and besides traveling within our country, the couple also visited Australia,Austria, Bermuda, China, Finland,France,Germany, Greece, Italy,Lichenstein, Norway and Russia during their long marriage. She was a wonderful spouse, mother, grandmother and friend to all.
Kathleen is survived by her children: Toni Meyer of Troy, Stephen Meyer Jr. of Washington and Jeanie (Lance) Jeans of Troy; three grandchildren, Ellyse Meyer, Donovan Meyer and Sarah Jeans; two siblings, Patrick Hough of Manhattan Beach, CA and Mary Ellen Schaeffer of Bonne Terre, a special niece Mary Lou (Mike) Donaldson of Wildwood, many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Catherine Jeans, husband, Stephen Meyer and brother, John “Jack” O’Connell Hough.
