Jeanne was born on August 3, 1925 in Scranton, PA, daughter of William and Tessie Demkowich. She graduated from Scranton High School and later attended Secretarial School in Washington, D.C., and Black Hawk College in Moline. She married Lyle G. Thomas in Washington, D.C., in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1993.
She had worked at Caterpillar in Peoria, and later as a coordinator for Weight Watchers. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crossword puzzles. Known for her artistic abilities, she was loved by all her family and friends. Jeanne was involved in and an proud advocate of Deaf rights.
Those left to honor her memory include her 2 children, Laura Thomas of East Moline, Alan (Kathleen) Thomas of Champaign; 3 granddaughters: Ashley (Jeffrey) Bryant of Amboy, IL, Avalon Thomas-Roebal of East Moline, and Abigail (Colin) Shields of Amboy; 4 great-grandchildren: Everly, Emelia, Logan, and Brody; and her beloved dog, Sadie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 8 brothers and sisters, and a granddaughter in infancy, Amanda Jo.
