Mark Javan Bryant – January 16, 1962 – January 14, 2020
Funeral services will be held at Morgan Chapel on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 1pm for Mark Javan Bryant, age 57, who died on January 14, 2020. Burial to follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Southside. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service. Javan was the youngest of the four "Bryant boys" and quickly carved out his spot on the family ball field, basketball court, golf course, and survey crew. He was in the Etowah High 1980 graduating class and earned lineman awards on the football team. He received his degree in Finance from Auburn in 1985 and remained an avid "War Eagle" supporter for life. He enjoyed working with the Wiregrass Construction Co. from 2010 to present. Jay and Denise wed in 1989 and were delighted to welcome Sarah Katherine and Lee Phillip to their beautiful family. In 2012, Jay became "Grandgraddy" to his amazing grandson, Mason. For the next seven years he had the joy of loving and learning what it is that makes a grandchild so incredibly special. He truly loved his God, his family, his friends and life. His dad had the blessing of watching him grow from a "fun-filled, never-serious" young adult into a very caring, kind, and unselfish man. Javan had a way of making every family-gathering a laughter-filled event entertaining his nieces and nephews with hysterical "life" stories. His stories will be repeated in the family for generations to come. For those who knew him, every mention of Javan will be accompanied with an instant smile and warm heart. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bebe Bryant; and brothers, Philip Bryant and Mike Bryant. He is survived by his wife, Denise Bryant; father, James Bryant; children, Lee Bryant and Sarah Bryant; grandson, Mason Bryant; sister, Dyanne Higgins (Steve); brother, Steve Bryant (Denise); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.Pallbearers will be nephews, Jared Story, Jeremy Bryant, Joshua Bryant, Nathan Bryant, Gabe Story, Daniel Story, and Jean-Luc Cummins. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Dyson, Dr. James Hood, Brandon Owens, Garrett Pass, David Sullivan, and Irvin Watkins. Honorary pallbearer will be Mark Gidley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Special thanks to the Wiregrass family, the Medmanagement family, and the loving support and prayers from many friends and family. (Morgan Funeral Home, Attalla, Alabama)
