Amy Bickler, 94, Minot, ND, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020, in her home.

Amy Anita Holmly was born July 7, 1925, the daughter of Alfred and Anna (Braaten) Holmly, in Nanson, ND. She graduated from Rolette High School in 1943. She attended nursing school through the Nurses Cadet Corps and received her Registered Nursing degree in 1946.

She married Philip “Scottie” Bickler on November 28, 1946 in Mylo, ND. Amy was originally employed at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby, ND before moving to Minot in 1948. She continued her career at Trinity Hospital and then Medical Arts Clinic.

She was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church and its Women’s Circle for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Crosstown Homemakers Club for more than 40 years.

Amy was an excellent cook and baker; mastering the skill of making lefse, divinity, fudge, krumkake, sandbakkels, flatbread, rosettes, and last but not least, her famous fried chicken. She was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan, as well as a fierce competitor during Wheel of Fortune every night.

Amy was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.

Her loving family includes: children, Gary (Vicki) Bickler, Jacksonville Beach, FL, Kelly (Gail) Bickler, Minot, and Mark (Nicky) Bickler, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Derek (Sara) Bickler, Scott (Annette) Bickler, Ryan Bickler, Jared (Lindsay) Bickler, and Jessica Vold; great-grandchildren, Mya Bickler, Justin Bickler, Amy Bickler, Nellie Bickler, Lachlan Vold and Briar Vold; sisters-in-law, Argyle Baukol, Sequim, WA; Monie Bickler, Enumclaw, WA, and Genevieve Holmly, Salem, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip “Scottie”, who passed away June 9, 2019; her parents, Alfred and Anna Holmly; brothers, Gordon, Lester, and Gilman Holmly; and sister, Lucile Anfinson.
