A separate burial of his ashes were done in Highland Cemetery Lyme NH

Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Always helpful, understanding, easy person to talk to. He had a way of guiding others in their decisions, without telling them what to do. His advice was sought by many who knew him as he had an extensive knowledge and always knew how to "fix things". He was a vocational arts instructor for 31 years teaching automotive and building trade. Instructed welding classes as well. He was known as a very caring and patient teacher and taught his students "how to do the job right".
During the summers and after retirement from teaching, he designed and built many houses, additions, decks, restorative and finish carpentry, as well as excavation, septic designs and installations. This was done under his company names of Burgess Builders and 3 Oaks Building and Renovations. He enjoyed working with his hands and was a master craftsman.
He also enjoyed taking care of hay fields in St. Johnsbury VT, buying and restoring old tractors. He had a habit of naming all of his trucks and tractors, much to the delight of his family and friends. Names such as "Old Henry", "Mow Rake" and "Tedd Bail".
He also restored antique cars.
He loved to hike, bike and travel, but was also content to relax in front of the wood stove with his cat Yoda.
He was very witty, smart and had a great Yankee sense of humor. He liked "wicked good" pies and often commented it "tastes like more". Enjoy the little things, take nothing for granted, tell those you love how much they mean to you. And always ask for a second piece of pie!
