Marlene Litchfield Carter, 83, of Nederland, Texas, passed away on December 26, 2019 at her residence.
Marlene was born on July 11, 1936 in Port Arthur, Texas to parents William Lee Litchfield and Inez Jones.
She was a lifelong residence of the Golden Triangle and a member of First Baptist Church of Port Arthur. Marlene had worked as a principal assistant at Terrell Elementary School in PAISD, retiring in 2016. She enjoyed playing bridge and going antique shopping. Marlene was a loving person who will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Lee Litchfield, her mother, Inez Wilman and her brother, Gene Litchfield.
Marlene is survived by her loving husband, Bill Carter; her sons, Gary Carter and his wife, Eleanor and Mark Carter and his wife, Lesley; her sister, Elaine Wilmore and her husband, Greg of Cleburne; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a gathering of family and friends from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Haynes.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
