Robert J. Hendricks passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, Robert was born to James and Lois (Smith) Hendricks on January 21, 1947 in Rockford, Illinois. Robert served in the Army after being drafted in 1966, spending 11 months in Korea. Robert married the love of his life Vivian Loofboro on June 10, 1967 at Saint Bridget's Catholic Church in Loves Park, Illinois. Robert took pride in his work as a machine repairer, builder, and installer for several companies, retiring from Komax in Rockford, Illinois. Robert enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, paying special attention to his vegetable garden, cookouts, and family gatherings. Robert also loved going to Las Vegas with his wife, and spending time at other casinos.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Vivian; children, Angela (Jim) Blake, Shelly (John) Klein, Andrew Hendricks; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jeffrey (Karan) Hendricks of Michigan, Thomas Hendricks of North Carolina, Timothy Hendricks of Illinois, Gretchen (Dave) Berge of Florida, Dennis (Sandi) Hendricks of Illinois, Jack Hendricks of Illinois, Paul Hendricks of North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews; furry four-legged friends, Snickers and Snuggles. Robert is predeceased in death by his parents.

A special thank you to Mercy Health Hospice for their loving and compassionate care during the last stage of Robert's battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

A visitation will take place for Robert on Monday, January 20th, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a service to follow at Sunset Funeral Home located 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois, 61115. Entombment is to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
