Josephine M. Metcalf, 101, a former Rushville resident, passed away January 28, 2018 in Phoenix, AZ where she had lived with her daughter for the last nearly 12 years.
Josephine was born February 9, 1916 in Laurel to George A. & Clara E. (Gausepohl) Moster. She was a 1934 graduate of Laurel and obtained her Bachelor's degree in Education in 1969 from Ball State University. She married Frank Clark Metcalf on November 19, 1934 and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1978.
Josephine retired from the Rush County School system where she was a librarian for 15 years. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women's Society and the Retired Teacher's Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Duane) Anderson of Phoenix, a son, Robert (Sharon) Metcalf of Spencerville, IN., 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Henry & Paul Moster and 2 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 PM Monday, February 5, 2018 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Rev. Roy Ice presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from Noon until service time on Monday. Burial will be in the Everton Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's Society.
