About 250 people gathered at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Friday to remember John, not only for his service but for the lives he touched in St. Augustine. The St. Augustine Police Department described Meade as a “unique soul” who connected with everyone he met. But he lived “off the grid” for years.
Full honors burial at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. Services will be held Friday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. The Veterans Council of St. Johns County, conducted Meade’s ceremony and burial.
“We represent John’s family. We are his family.”∼John Meade, Jr was a Vietnam War Veteran who served from 1966 - 1968. Family unknown at this time. Age unknown (median age of males during the Vietnam War was 30 years old making him approximately 83 years old.
