Rhea Rice Jackson, 94, affectionately known as “Mamaw” went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Aston Park Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Jackson was a native of Madison County (Big Laurel Community) and had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Rev. Henry Rice and Sarafina Lewis Rice and the wife of the late Thomas Earl Jackson who died in 1975. She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas Avery Jackson; brothers, Avery, Timothy, Bobby & Ruben Rice; and sisters, Essie Brown & Lucy Bleak.
Along with her husband they owned & operated Asheville Safe & Lock Co., formerly ran a Children’s Day Care Home and was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving are her daughters, Betty Driver (Dave) of Canton, Elaine Wooten (Clyde) of Leicester and Ilena Carpenter of Asheville; grandchildren, Chantell Wooten, William K. Driver, Emily Stewart, Shannon Boles, Milton Carpenter and Keaton Behler; great grandchildren, Tyler & Jackson Boles, Emery & Owen Driver and Annabelle Stewart; half brothers, Robert, Jerry, Larry and J.W. and half sisters, Esther, Ellen, Mary, Joyce Ann and Ruth.

Memorial services will be held 2PM Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Sluder officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Green Hills Cemetery.
