Dorothy Fay Paul, 88 passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on December 7, 2019. A memorial service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church January 18, 2020 at 10:30 AM followed by lunch at the church, and a graveside service at Ararat Armenian Cemetery in Fresno following lunch.
Dorothy was born in Denver Colorado on March 19, 1931 to Harry and Henrietta Sitzman and eventually moved with her family to the Fresno area during her high school years. She attended Central Union High School and eventually received her GED from Fresno Unified School District adult school in 1955. She continued her education by taking business courses at Fresno City College in the early 1960’s as a young single mother. Dorothy is preceded in death by her daughter Marilyn Paul, son-in-law Curtis Mauroner, her parents, brothers Harry Sitzman, and Robert Sitzman, sisters Clara Weber, Thelma Scheirman, and Betty Cowan.
She was employed for approximately 50 years by Fresno County, serving as a Library Assistant at the County Library for about 30 years, and about six years at the Fresno County Hospital as the Medical Librarian. The last 20+ years of her service included staffing several branch libraries primarily in Pinedale and Kerman, as a Senior Library Assistant. Mom had a genuine concern and loved the people that she served in in those areas over those years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, was active in the VFW post 3225 auxiliary, and was a member of the AUSA Central California Chapter.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Harry Paul of Fresno, sister Patricia Corless of Fresno, daughter Minute Celeste Mauroner, son Martin Scott Paul and daughter-in-law Barbara, son Jason Paul and daughter-in-law Marie, son Jeff Paul, daughter-in-law Kary, grandchildren Bryan Mauroner, Nicole Nguyen-The, Jonathan Paul, Samantha Paul, Trevor Paul, Andrew Paul, Hannah Paul, Timothy Paul, great-grandchildren Bowen Mauroner, and Ava Nguyen-The.
