Frances Elaine Black
January 20, 1945 - January 12, 2020

Frances Elaine Black, 74, entered peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at her home in Moss Point MS. Fran, as she was affectionately called, was born January 20, 1945 to the union of James Benjamin and Claudia Gladney Black in McCool, MS. Several months later, the family moved to Moss Point, MS where she attended and graduated from Magnolia High School, Class of 1963. She later attended MS Gulf Coast Community College in Gautier, MS. where she enrolled in the LPN Nursing Program. After graduating from MG CCC, she was employed with Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, MS and later was employed in the private practice offices of Dr. Joel Brunt and Dr. Alfred McNair.

She united with the Lighthouse Church of the Apostolic Faith under the leadership of its founding pastor, Bishop D.L. Brewer and continued in later years under the leadership of Bishop J.L. Brown. Later she became a member of the Apostolic Fellowship Assembly and lastly, the Apostolic Disciples of Christ and remained faithful unto death. She had a quiet and gentle spirit, but could hit a note that could shatter glass with her high tenor voice when she sang in the choir and with her family.

Although she never married or had any biological children, she had numerous godchildren whom she loved and adored. She found pleasure in celebrating the milestones in their lives. Fran loved to cook and was excited about creating new recipes and sharing them with others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Michael Black; and maternal grandparents, Henry and Mary Gladney.
