A Virginia native, Opal was well-loved by her family and friends and dedicated her life to helping others. Opal was the mother of eight children and always made time for her family and friends. She provided support and love not only for her family, but worked tirelessly to provide care for others in need. She was a simple lady who never sought praise for herself but would proudly boast about her family whom she dearly cherished.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many and lived her life helping others. She will be remembered for her generosity and love to her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her first husband, Dow Mack Lane (married 4 March 1946) , and her second husband Henry 'Lee' Chapman; three sisters, Monie Reed, Kathleen Barnette and Faye Paine; two brothers, Johnny and Joe Lane; Step-father, Ray Lane; and son, Leonard (Butch) Lane.
Survivors include : two daughters, Linda Reed, Patsy Snapp (Danny); sons, Mack Lane (Glenda) , Dutchey Lane (Kathie), Herbert Lane ( Kathy), David Lane (Susan), Rocky Lane (Joanna), and daughter-in-law, Mary Lane (Butch); brother, Darrell Lane (Betty); 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 PM Friday, January 17, 2020, in the Carter Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill, Tennessee. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM with the Reverend Andy Sensabaugh officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted immediately following, in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, Tennessee. Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
