William Stanley “Stan” Courtney, Sr., 93, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at his home. He was born January 25, 1926 in Jefferson County, KY the son of William Allen and Mary Leona Stanley Courtney.
He was an inspector at Ford Motor Company in Louisville, KY and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Stan was a Navy Veteran of WWII and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jan Hussung, a stepfather, Sam Ligari, three brothers J.W., Tom and George Courtney and sister, Fadelma Moore.
He is survived by his wife, Audra Julia Rochner Courtney of Lanesville, IN; two sons, Jeff Courtney (Dawn) of Borden, IN and Bill Courtney, II (Kim) of Georgetown, IN; son-in-law, Donnie Hussung of Lanesville, IN; two daughters, Jamie Rogers (George) and Jackie McCulloch (Trinler) both of Lanesville, IN; grandchildren, Erica, Corey and Cody Hussung, Ryan, Devon and Collin McCulloch, and Jenna, Brittany, Jeffrey, Dylan and Damon Courtney; great grandchildren, Destinee and Brage Stocks, Ada and Ruth Hussung Memphis, Violet and Willa McCulloch, and Lamon, Gwen, Riley, Malcolm, and Ellis Courtney and two on the way, great great grandchildren, Romi Benbow and Kayleigh and Jaelynn Stocks.
A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 AM Friday, January 17, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lanesville, IN. Father Robert St. Martin will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 3 PM to 8 PM Thursday, January,16, 2020 and Friday from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN.
