Mr. Lane was born October 3, 1942, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, son of the late Joseph and Louise Lane. A former resident of Meriwether County, he had lived in Heard County for 24 years, retired from Ford Motor Company in Hapeville after 34 years of service, was a member of the LaGrange Elks Club, and was a former volunteer firefighter for the Meriwether County Fire Department. He loved camping, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Flo Lane of Cooksville; children, Pam McChargue of Yatesville, Krystal and Earl Whitten of Woodbury, Felicia and Chris Bridges of Thomaston, Tricia Burns of Woodland, Brooke and Aaron Pike of South Carolina, Joseph (Joey) and Angela Lane of Newnan, Wayne and Melissa Jackson, Tim and Vicki Jackson all of Roopville; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Vicki Jackson will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 Tuesday night.
