Hours after being reported as missing on Saturday morning, the search for Roman Anthony Lopez was called off. The news wasn't good ... the eleven-year-old was found deceased.
The handsome young man had his favorite cubby-holes and places to hide in the house and on the family's property. On that Saturday around 9:00am, Roman's step-mother went to awaken him for breakfast. Only, he wasn't in his bed. A search of all his favorite hideouts did not result in him being located. His dad came home from work, authorities were notified, dozens of volunteers from the community began to help search and put out 'Missing Person' flyers. About fifteen hours after being discovered missing, Roman's dad was notified that his son was located.
Per his paternal side of the family, Roman was a typical eleven-year-old boy in the sense that he liked to explore and play video games with his step-brothers. On the other hand, he liked to cook with his step-sisters. He enjoyed baking, watching the same movie over and over again ... and he loved to sing and dance.
Roman was not given the opportunity to spend much time with his mom ~ Rochelle ~ and the maternal side of his family. But when he did, he knew love, joy, and contentment. He was very close to his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He absolutely adored his mom and she did the same in return. Sadly, Rochelle passed away a little over a year after Roman. She was laid to rest next to him. I pray that mother and son had a wonderful reunion and that they are together for all eternity.
A candlelight vigil was held on Thursday the 23rd. Dozens came to show their respects to Roman. Prayers were lifted to Heaven ~ tears were cried ~ hearts were bursting with love and support for his mother ~ a harmonicist in the crowd blessed each soul with his rendition of the beloved hymn 'Amazing Grace'.

A year later, authorities released information re: Roman's death. On February 3rd, 2021 his dad and step-mother were arrested. Both adults have charges of abuse and poisoning against them. A short time later murder charges were added.
