Glenn T. “Terry” Campbell, 79, passed away the way he lived his life - peacefully - at the home on January 12, 2020. Born in Clinton, MO on June 16, 1940 to Glenn Albert and Martha June (Swearingen), Terry spent his elementary years in Deepwater, MO before graduating from Montrose H.S. Class of 1958. Terry served in the U.S. Navy before returning to live out the remainder of his life in the area.
Terry played center on his high school basketball team. He also enjoyed fishing, his cats, Kansas City Chiefs, Royals, University of Missouri sports and avidly attended each and every sporting event of the pride of his life -- his children and grandchildren.
After returning to the area he met the love of his life, Doris, who was managing the snack bar at A.C. Lanes. After marrying on June 2, 1964 in Kansas City, MO Terry and Doris were blessed 2 sons, Terry Pat and Steve, and 2 daughters, Caraleigh and Cristal.
Terry was an accomplished bowler, carrying a 174 average over years of league competition at A.C. Lanes and regional bowling tournaments.
In 1964 Terry began a career as Storekeeper at Montrose Station with KCP&L. Ever the example for his children, Terry was never late and never missed a day of work over the next 37.5 years, retiring in 2002. Terry was a fixture in Appleton City, commonly seen in attendance at local sporting activities over many decades, at the coffee shop following work and was familiar to local supermarket employees because of his very specific combinations and penchant for playing the lottery, with the peak of his winning being a 7-day all-expenses-paid cruise of the Bahamas.
Terry was a great man and the ultimate example of hard-work and decency to his children and grandchildren. He took the challenges of his life in stride and was never, ever one to be heard to complain or feel sorry for himself. He was reserved and content with his quiet life, but welcomed the (sometimes deafening) noise that came with a houseful of children and grandchildren.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Chuck, Dave, Kerry (Welsh) and Martha “Mick” (Davison). Terry is survived by his wife Doris Campbell. Children: Terry Pat (Kim) of Shawnee, KS, Steve (Eva) of New Iberia, LA, Caraleigh (Brad) Jackson of Appleton City and Cristal (Jim) Hoovens of Springfield, MO. Terry is also survived by grandchildren, whom he so dearly loved: Brittanni (Ryan) Turner, Scott (Laura) Campbell, Jordan (Jason) Kunkelman, Tabitha and Piper Jackson, Kara Barton (Marcus Johnson), Chandler Hoovens, Blaine Hoovens and Scarlett, and Brittney Blum; as well as great-grandchildren Alexis and Kade Turner, Katie, Collin and Kenzie Campbell, Brecken Jackson and Landon Jackson-Steward, and Ryan and Ariana Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
The SERVICE for Terry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Hill and Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, Missouri.
The MINISTER officiating at the service will be Pastor David Zink.
VISITATION will be held between 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the funeral home.

INTERMENT will be in Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri.
The family suggests any MEMORIAL donations be made to Heartland Hospice or Children’s Mercy Hospital, and may be left at the funeral home.
