Herbert A. Moss, son of the late William Fletcher Moss and Willie Elizabeth Cliff Moss, was born February 25, 1927, in Oxford, Arkansas. He passed away January 10, 2020, at his home in Oxford at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 16 days.

Herbert was drafted into the U.S. Army while in high school. When World War II ended, he received an honorable discharge. He married Ima Lou Brown on April 28, 1951, and they raised four children.

Herbert spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. Throughout his working years, he owned and operated the Oxford Service Station, worked for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, and owned and operated a dairy and cattle business. He was a lifelong United Methodist and attended Oxford Cumberland Presbyterian United Methodist Church. He also served more than 50 years on the Oxford City Council and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ima Lou Moss of the home; four children, daughter Debra Wild and husband Greg of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter Carolyn Whisenant of Mountain Home, Arkansas; daughter Beth Strong and husband Butch of Gainesville, Missouri; and son Greg Moss and wife Rhonda of Oxford, Arkansas; two sisters, Jetta Peters and Rheta Dillard Blankenship, both of Oxford; five grandchildren, Matt Wild and wife Tracey of Overland Park, Kansas; Jeff Whisenant of Mountain Home; Todd Strong and fiancé Kathy of Branson, Missouri; Adam Strong and wife Rebecca of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and Tori Moss of Oxford, Arkansas; four great-grandchildren, Ry Wild, Dylan Whisenant, Aiden Strong and Evie Strong; special family member Willetta Everett of Oxford, Arkansas; and many other friends and relatives, especially his wife's nine siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Fisher Moss; sisters Ann Hovater, Sue Howard and Joniece Nichols; granddaughter Kailey Moss; great-granddaughter Zoe Whisenant; and son-in-law Roger Whisenant.

Visitation and funeral service will be held Monday, January 13, at Oxford Cumberland Presbyterian United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Coleman officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.

Pallbearers include: Matt Wild, Jeff Whisenant, Todd Strong, Adam Strong, Joe Brown and Glendon Everett.
