Eddie Monroe Douglas, 61, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, January 9, 2020, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, January 12, 2020, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia with the Rev. Carroll Carver officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, in Ambrose, Georgia. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Douglas was born July 12, 1958, in Alma, Georgia, to the late Walter Monroe & Edna Yancey Douglas. He graduated from Bacon County High School and later received a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Georgia. Mr. Douglas moved to the community over 20 years ago and was retired from the United States Department of Agriculture, specializing in loans. He enjoyed working and golfing. Mr. Douglas attended New Hope Baptist Church in Ambrose, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Sue Rogers Douglas of Fitzgerald; a daughter, Elizabeth T. Douglas & Nathan Wells of Fyffe, Alabama; grandchildren: Bo Wells and Olivia Wells; ; one brother, Walter Earl Douglas & Kathi of Valdosta, a niece, Angel N. Douglas of Valdosta; a step-son, Galanis Papachristou & April of Tarrytown; two step-grandchildren: Blake Rutherford and Savannah Brown; and one step-great-grandchild: Kayden Johnson and several other nieces and nephews.
