Francis A. Wilhoit, founder of a town on US 89 between Prescott and Yarnell which bears his name, died yesterday in St. Mary's Hospital at Tucson. He was 73.
Mr. Wilhoit, 5208 N. 19th Drive, moved to Yuma in 1920. In 1922, he moved to the Prescott district and lived there until 1930, when he moved to Wickenburg where he was agent for the Texaco Oil Co.
He resided in Phoenix since 1935 and owned the Phoenix Fuel Co. at 1200 N. 24th Ave. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Prescott.
Services will be conducted at 12:45 p.m. Saturday in A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams.
He is survived by his wife, Christine M.; three daughters, Mrs. Peter Shields and Mrs. C. M. Henry, both of Phoenix, and Mrs. Grace Hicks of San Francisco; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Dean of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mrs. Zita Haden and Mrs. Edith Condon, both of Monrovia, Calif.; a brother, Ernest of Fresno, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
