CHRISTOPHER BRUCE REEVES
March 16, 1956 - January 10, 2020

Christopher Bruce Reeves was born on March 16, 1956 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Carroll Bruce Reeves and Betty Marie Gray Reeves. He finished his race on earth and entered into his eternal reward on January 10, 2020.

As a child, Chris lived in many places between Oklahoma, Texas, and California before graduating from Elk City High School in Oklahoma. He grew up with his beloved sister, Lela, who tragically preceded him in death at a young age. While in high school, Chris played football, baseball, and sang in the Glee Club. Chris' life was dramatically changed in 1977 when he surrendered his heart to the Lord and came to salvation in Jesus Christ.

He then moved to Midland, Texas, where he enjoyed a short time of volunteering for Teen Challenge where he helped young men find a better path in life through discipleship. Soon after, he met his soulmate and life partner, Phyllis Reeves. Chris and Phyllis married in 1978 and began a family.

Chris attended Midland Junior College and taught real estate classes there. Eventually, Chris moved his family to Lubbock, Texas where he attended Texas Tech University and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. As Chris' family grew, he began a career in real estate appraising. Chris and his family eventually relocated back to Midland where he became a Texas Certified Real Estate Appraiser. It was at this time that his family grew once more with his fourth child. Chris, Phyllis and their children relocated several times with a long stint in Seguin, Texas and then San Antonio, Texas.

Over the years, Chris owned his own real estate appraisal business, Reeves Valuation Group; served as a review appraiser for the FDIC; and received many real estate appraiser designations including his MAI before moving into numerous leadership roles at multiple banks. During this time, he also taught Sunday School and coached on his sons' various sports teams. He eventually became Chief Appraiser and Senior Vice President at BBVA USA with a move to Katy, Texas.

While Chris experienced great success in his career, his most prized accomplishments were his wife, children, and grandchildren. Chris and Phyllis have four children: Philip (Erika) Reeves of Houston, Texas; Amber (Kenard) Horsley of Richmond, Texas; Cagney (Emma) Reeves of Katy, Texas; and Maggie Gonzalez of Katy, Texas. They also have eight grandchildren: Jo Anna, Eliya, Parker, Shiloh, Meadow, Carver, Arlo, and a baby boy due on Chris' birthdate.

Chris and Phyllis were an incredible team as they pointed their family to Christ. Phyllis was the light of Chris' life, his best friend, and the one his heart adored. He enjoyed music, played the guitar, and loved to watch sports. Chris took his job of being a father very seriously and devoted much time to loving and training up his children. To his four kids, he was bigger than life. He was a protector, a provider, and best friend to each of them. As they started their own families, Chris loved his children's spouses like they were his own. His passion and joy was found in any moment he could spend with his grandchildren. He treasured each of them and they all believed that he was Suprman and that he hung the moon.

Chris battled a lengthy illness that he managed for many years but remained steadfast in both his career and his role as husband, fathr, and grandfather. He persisted and showed his strength even through his hardest physical struggles. His love for his family was rooted deeply and he made sure they all knew that. He was so proud of them.

Chris always held a special place in his heart for his sister and his parents. Now, he has been reunited with them for all of eternity. Chris is preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Reeves and Betty Reeves; sister, Lela Reeves.

Chris is survived by his precious wife of forty-one years, Phyllis Reeves; all of his children and grandchildren; his Uncle Jimmy (Diane) Gray of Gainesville, Texas; sister-in-law Debbie (Dannie) Lott of Midland and brother-in-law Dennis (Debara) Reeves of Midland; numerou cousins, and many other family and friends. Chris considered many of his friends and co-workers as family, specifically his team at BBVA. We would like to thank each of you for loving him.

Services entrusted to Schmidt Funeral Home in Katy with interment at Katy Magnolia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital in memory of Christopher Reeves ([email protected]).

"I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have complete boldness, so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
