Bobby Eugene Helms, 77, of Monroe, NC passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020. He was born in Union County on October 31,1942 to the late Fred Lee Helms and Millie Starnes Helms. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Mary Ann Helms as well as siblings, Jeff Helms, Mildred Helms Hargett, Betty L. Helms and Rachel Ann Helms.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Unionville Baptist Church, 510 Baucom Road, Monroe, NC 28110, burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
He retired from the City of Monroe Parks and Recreation Department after almost 28 years.
Bobby was survived by his daughter, Melissa Craig, (Jeff) two grandchildren; Daniel Craig, (Daisy Hardy) and Hannah Craig, many nieces and nephews and long-time friends; Bill and Shirley Love and Gene and Janet Kiker.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.
