LaVonne M. Hanson, age 84, of Plover, WI died on January 8, 2020 at Marshfield Medical Center.
She was born May 20, 1935 to Carroll and Grace Marion (Grant) Dakins in Plover, WI. She attended the local grade schools, graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1954, and attended beauty school in Green Bay.
On May 22, 1965, LaVonne married Richard Hanson at Trinity Lutheran Church.
LaVonne worked at the Whiting-Plover Mill before starting at B’s Beauty Shop. She then worked at both Campbell’s and Spurgeon’s boutiques. LaVonne was a bartender at Johnny and Elaine’s and worked at Herrschners before retiring.
LaVonne’s generous and lovable nature was evident through the hours she spent volunteering at the food pantry, Lincoln Center, and the Red Cross blood drive. She and her mother made over 600 quilts for charity. LaVonne loved to knit, crochet, and play cards. She would camp and travel frequently with her husband; the pair would take spontaneous day trips and went on 14 bus tours together. LaVonne was social and could strike up conversation with anyone.
Survivors include her husband, Richard (Dick) Hanson; sister, Karen (Paul) Pliska; nieces, Debra (Tom) Kerchefski, Denise (Barney) Somers, Kim (Jeff) Brozik; nephew, Scott (Cara) Pliska; and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elaine (John) Kruzitski; brother, Darwin Dakins; nieces, Dawn (Gerard) Sankey, Kelly Pliska; grandparents Jesse & Grace Grant and John & Mildred Dakins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Boston Funeral Home with Rev. Tim O’Brien presiding. A time of visitation will precede from 6:00 until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment in Plover Cemetery will take place at a later date.
