Sarah Dew (1772 - 1865) was the youngest child of Abraham Dew Sr (1719 - 1773) and his second wife Elizabeth (Hickman) Dew Vivrett (1737 - 1807). With her elder half-brothers Abraham Dew Jr & Reuben Dew, Sarah moved from their birthplace of Edgecombe County, NC to Marion County, SC. By her first husband, Sarah was the mother of Lieut John "Dew" Rogers (1789 - 1851) who served in Gasque's War of 1812 SC Militia. In this same unit were Dew's cousins, John Dew (a 1st cousin, the son of Reuben Dew) & Wilson Dew (a 1st cousin, once removed, the son of Abe Jr's son Christopher Tobias Dew Sr), as well as Ethelred, William, Samuel and Silas Rogers. The last 3, perhaps 4, were brothers who may have been Lieut Dew's Rogers cousins. Sarah's other Rogers children were Peter Rogers (1788 - 1860) who named his eldest son Dew Rogers, and Martha Ann Rogers who married David Samuel Edwards. Like Sarah and Lieut Dew Rogers, Peter and Martha lived their lives in Marion County, SC.

After the death Sarah's first husband ~1795, she married Stephen Berry. Stephen and Sarah's eldest child was Mary Ann Berry (1795 - 1840) .Mary Ann married Wilson Dew (1791 - 1851, the grandson of Abraham Dew Jr above). Because Sarah Dew was the sister of Wilson Dew's grandfather, Mary Ann & Wilson were Dew 1st cousins once removed. But they were also Berry first cousins since Wilson's mother, Nancy Anne Berry, was the sister of Mary Ann's father Stephen. Sarah Dew & Stephen Berry's other children were Henry "Crossroads" Berry II (1796 - 1876; named for a paternal uncle), Andrew Steven Berry (1802 - 1891).
