A Decatur resident who died Friday night following an automobile accident in Nashville, Tenn., had a heart attack and lost control of the car, Nashville police reported.
Charles W. Arnold, 45, of 2369 Forest Crest Dr. was dead on arrival at Metropolitan General Hospital in Nashville after his car hit a guardrail at Interstate 40 and Fessler's Lane.
Nashville police said Mr. Arnold's car also hit a second car before ending up in an embankment.
Mr. Arnold's wife, Lula, was a passenger in his car, but was not seriously injured.
They were reportedly en route to Florida for a vacation.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek.
Mr. Arnold was born in Effingham, son of James and Roxie Arnold. He was a machine operator at Caterpillar Tractor Co. and a member of South Wheatland Fire Department, Weekenders Bow and Gun Club and the UAW.
He married Lula Belle Wilham in 1954.
Surviving are his wife; son, Dennis, at home; mother; brother, James D. of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Mrs. Ivan (Thelma) Scott of Effingham.
