Barbara Jo Knowlton, 72, of Peru, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born in Miami County on Jan. 21, 1947 to Walter Murphy and Gertrude Bell (Grimes) Hurlock. She married Norman Knowlton on May 27, 1967. He survives. A homemaker, Barbara was a member of the First Assembly of God, a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary, and greatly enjoyed her flower garden in the heart in the yard. She was a loving wife, and a wonderful mother and grandmother – the best than anyone could ask for!

She is survived by her husband, as well as their children, Cheryl Lynn (David) Sunday of Denver, Indiana, and Cathy Renee Knowlton of Colfax, Indiana. Also surviving are grandchildren Brandt Swihart, Kirsten Burton, and Keaton Spear; and great-grandchildren Allissa Swihart, and Garrett Swihart. Also, a brother Larry A. Murphy of Florida. Also surviving are her fur babies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Michelle Diane Knowlton, and brothers Junior Felthoff and Weldon L. Turner.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 at First Assembly of God, 365 Monroe Avenue, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor E.J. Litherland officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
