Age 96 years, of Rogers, MN, died peacefully on December 27, 2019. She was born an only child on 9-21-23 to loving parents Robert J and Carrie B. Smith in Minneapolis. She graduated from Edison High School in 1941. While attending the U of M she met and married Ward P. Gronfield on December 27, 1943, sharing 45 blessed years together raising 3 children, Lynn (Ken), Leslie (Jim) and Ross (Sara). After raising the children, she returned to the U and graduated in 1969. After retiring, Ward and Shirley moved to Arizona to find an easier climate full time but Ward died suddenly on 12-31-1988 and soon Shirley returned to Minnesota and family. On 3-9-1991, she married Walter Gunn and they shared their lives until Walt died 6-20-2004.
