Benjamin Franklin, Jr., age 70, a resident of Millbrook, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019. Benjamin was born on October 5, 1949 in Montgomery, Alabama to Benjamin Franklin, Sr. and Bessie Mae Isome Franklin.

He was educated in the Jefferson County school system in Birmingham, Alabama. He later attended Alabama A& M in Huntsville, Alabama. Growing up, Ben was a hard worker and very competitive.

In July of 1969, he joined the United States Marine Corps. While he was in the military, he earned the rank of Sergeant, E-5. He received a National Defense Medal as well as a Vietnam Service Medal for his outstanding accomplishments.

Ben was a family man who lived a very happy and fruitful lifestyle. Some of his favorite past times included singing the blues, playing the guitar, traveling, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing. He was known for his humor, jokes and being the natural comedian he was. Over the years, he has done various jobs. His main job position was held as a supervisor for a number of years, for a large construction company.

Ben leaves to cherish his legacy and memory: his wife: Lillian Veronica Rogers Franklin; children: Katrina Franklin, Delvin Franklin, and Felicia Lewis; stepson: Willie Stinson; mother: Bessie Mae Isome Franklin; brothers and sisters: Joseph Franklin, Isaac Franklin, Gwendolyn Hines, Vallory Franklin, Debbie Long, Annette Randall, Tarvaries Franklin, Demetrious Franklin, Timothy Franklin, and Marvin Franklin; grandchildren: RaChante Lewis, Madison Jones; great-grandchild: Kinsley Ruffin; uncle: Robert Isome; aunts: Jennie Graham and Doll Franklin; special : Angela Burke; special nephew: David Ragland; special friends: LaTrina Ross and Marilyn Ashley Howard, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 362 Walnut Street, Prattville, Alabama.

Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral services on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Lake Elam Baptist Church, 3268 WM Ashley Drive Millbrook, Alabama. Funeral Services will begin on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Lake Elam Baptist Church with Pastor Gary L. Jackson, Sr. officiating. Interment to follow at Cuba Cemetery, Coosada, Alabama with arrangements by Davis Funeral Home, 362 Walnut Street, Prattville, Alabama.
