Gerlind was born in Breslau, Silesia, Germany, the daughter of architect Wilhelm Hermann Gustav Lossow and Maria Hertha Lucie Gabriele Lossow, Countess von Salburg.
Gerlind studied agriculture in Austria, and after WWII worked as a translator for the armed forces where she met Lt. Kenneth Wayne Jones.
They married in Rothenbach, an der Pegnitz, Germany on 14 Aug 1948 and moved to the Chicago area, where they later welcomed a daughter, Barbara.
Gerlind worked as an Import and Export Manager at G.D. Searle.
She later married Arthur Fuller Dean and they eventually retired to Green Lake, Wisconsin, where Gerlind thrived in the snowy winters and sunny summers on the lake. She was an avid gardener at home as well as volunteered with the gardening club at the American Baptist Assembly. In Green Lake, she was also an active volunteer with Hospice, the public library, and a member of the Lutheran Church.
Gerlind is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Charles) Roberts of Olney, IL; stepson, Ross Dean; stepdaughter, Gail (Gerard) Fullroth; grandchildren, Catherine (Dr. John) Parks, Suzanne Roberts, Christina (Bryan) Kapicka; and great grandson Pierce Parks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Gottard Heinrich Lossow and Hubertus Max Lossow; and stepson, Randall Dean.
Given Gerlind's love of cats, memorials may be made to Shelter Friends at 227 S. Morgan St, Olney, IL 62450.
Arrangements are still pending at this time.
