Services for Major White Sr., 83, of New Orleans, formerly of Cannonsburg, who died peacefully at his home Saturday, March 24, 2012, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jefferson Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Natchez.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home in New Orleans.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Claudia Mae Sanders White; his parents, Sam White and Mary Stampley White; one sister, Rebecca Landry; and four brothers, Johnnie, Solomon, James and Clyde White.

Survivors include eight children, Joyce Johnson, Charles White, Imogene Carr, Judy Weaver, Major White Jr., Laura Coaxum, David White and Earnestine Nichols; he loved all of his children including Willie, Clyde and Robert Gooseberry, Marilyn, Janice, Glen and Ronnie Ross; one brother, Percy White of Los Angeles; 27 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
