Lillian Jeanette Weeks Phillips, age 89, of Cookeville passed to her Lord Saturday January 11, 2020, holding her daughter Jeanine's hand.

She was the daughter of Esther Lee Jacks Weeks and Herbert Daniel Weeks, born March 7th, 1930. Jeanette was born in Stewart Mississippi in the original log cabin her great-great grand father built when the Jacks family moved in Mississippi in the 1830s.

Jeanette's parents were sharecroppers in the Mississippi Delta during the Great Depression. Jeanette helped raise the six younger children in this ten child family while her parents worked in the fields. She moved to Memphis after the war and worked as a secretary at Greyhound, sending 15$ a month back to Big Mama to care for her family, as her father passed in 1949.

Jeannette met Jesse Phillips in Memphis and married in December 1952. She moved to Atlanta in 1954 where her husband took a job at Lockheed Aircraft.

Jeanette sang in the choir in several churches in her life, Bellevue Baptist in Memphis, First Baptist Atlanta, Tabernacle Baptist Cartersville Ga and First Baptist Church Cookeville and loved praising God in song.

Jeanette worked at Southern Bell for 20 years, retiring to Tennessee where she loved her friends, family and Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Steve Phillips (wife, Kay) of Cookeville; daughter, Jeanine Cleveland (husband, Ben) of Millerville, AL; daughter-in-law, Jane Phillips of Athens, TN; three brothers, Jimmy Weeks of Vicksburg, MS, Kenneth Weeks (wife, Kay) of Gainesville, GA, and Darry Joe Weeks of Vicksburg, MS; sister, Marjorie Christy of Jackson, MS; fourteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jesse Phillips; grandson, Samuel Cleveland; four brothers, Franklin, Hassell, Charles, and Malcolm Weeks; and sister, Frances McDonald.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Wednesday January 15, 2020, in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Stone officiating.
