Kingsport – Sandra Faye Reed, 53 of Kingsport, gained her angel wings and went home to be in the arms of Jesus, and with her mom, dad and sister, Reba, surrounded by her family and caregivers at Nova Healthcare. Our hearts are heavy and sad, but we’re thankful for the years that we had with her. Sandra had Down’s syndrome, and may not have been perfect to the world, but she was a special creation from God. She was a joy to be with and all she ever wanted was your love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Denny Randolph and Monie Cleo Barnette Reed, her sister, Reba Sloan and her brother, Bobby Barnette.

Sandra is survived by her sisters, Sue Barnette of Duffield and Causby Griffin and husband Kenny of Weber City; brothers, Jimmy “Bruber” Dee Barnette and wife Linda of Kingsport and Carson Reed of Kingsport; aunt, Opal “Aunt Opie” Chapman of Kingsport; many cousins, nieces and nephews and her adopted family, Janice, Katherine, Judy “Julie”, Carol, Angie and Rick.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport.

A funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Music will be provided by Misty Venett.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 am.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of her caregivers at Kingston Center, who loved her very much.
