Joe was born October 30, 1930 to Carl Kirkman and Lois Goolsby Kirkman in Rienzi, Mississippi. He worked at Ashley Furniture in the Mill Room before his retirement. He was married to Elsie Jane Kirkman of Ripley, Mississippi and was a member of the Springdale Baptist Church.
Joe is survived by his wife; three sons: Douglas Kirkman (Shelly) of New Orleans, LA, Kerwin Kirkman (Karen) of Falkner, MS, Adam Kirkman (Halley) of Ripley, MS; one daughter: Lana Kirkman of Ripley, MS; one brother: Harold Kirkman of Southaven, MS; seven grandchildren: Kristen Knight of Falkner, MS, Colin Kirkman, Gunner Kirkman, Emma Barkley, Brayden Kirkman, Hattie Kirkman all of Ripley, MS, Chase Kirkman of New Orleans, LA; two great-grandchildren: Talan Knight and Gavin Knight both of Falkner, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Annie Foust; five brothers: Ray Kirkman, Dean Kirkman, Dale Kirkman and Don Kirkman.
Joe went home to be with the Lord at the age of 88 on July 1, 2019 at Diversicare in Ripley, MS. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
